To fence, perchance to dream
Mar. 26th, 2005 07:51 pmWhat an excellent day!
We've been fencing at Darnall today, and wonderfully fed and provisioned courtesty of
burgi and
amberc_uk (and more goodies from
leathermgoddess a little later on). The mushroom supreme was excellent fuel for a spot of study of the infamous eight position parry sequence, with the most helpful thing being breaking it down into smaller elements and concentrating on getting those right. So much of it depends on co-operation for it to work - the footwork, the attack and the parry all have to be done with the proper intent, but when it works it gives a real insight into the mechanics of the art of fence.
We also had some good fun in freeplay, with the joyful sight of
leatherdykeuk giving Lina a fair chance in her fight by going down on her knees being the highlight of the day - I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures that were being taken at regular intervals. The hall was rather hot again, but we were taking things a little easier than when Donnelly is the house, and I think that everyone (including the various newbies and spectataors) had a good time.
I had to rush off to pick Alicia up from the tram stop, so apologies for not helping with the tidying up in the kitchen.
Now, a glass of sparkling shiraz, and a spot of musing on Doctor Who ...
