OK, what happened to the sun?

I was driving home today and noticed that a lot of cars had their headlights on. At five o'clock on an August afternoon. It suddenly struck me that I hadn't seen the sun all day, and that the sky was a shade of grey with a hint of grey. It wasn't raining, or even particularly cold, but just an oppressive dullness. What gives? I'm sure I can't remember weather quite like this before.

i second ican has blu sky now plz. we had to put the electric heater on at work. in august. but i think we could see some sky for about... 30 seconds?
