What's the greatest car chase in movie history?

I'm sure everybody has pondered this question at some point in their lives. Fortunately Les Jones has assembled all of the relevant clips and is running a poll here. Go and vote - you know it makes sense. For what it's worth my money is on the chase from Bullitt - superb driving, Fastback muscle cars, Steve McQueen in one of his best roles and it reminded me of just how good the San Fiero bits of GTA:San Andreas were.

My money's on The French Connection.

To be fair though, I've not seen Bullit (though I have a small queue of people telling me to do so).

Though The Blues Brothers is a pretty damn good car chase.

Though I really rate the Paris chase in Ronin.
Just been watching the Dirty Mary Crazy Larry chase again and was really disappointed. I remember the duel with the police driver as being more exciting, and him as being a cool character rather than a redneck cliche. And the pointless ending is still annoying.
Also watched the Mad Max II chase. I didn't vote for it, 'cos it's more a battle than a chase, but it's tons of fun. Always feel a bit upset when Virginia Hey gets shot - she's so cool running along the roof of the tanker with a crossbow in each hand.
